Introduction

The Aim of this project is to develop a future learning space for students that find themselves in a challenging environment. The purpose of the space is to provide children with quality educational opportunities despite the circumstances they find themselves in.

To create a space where students from different places can interact with each other, learn from and about each other and embrace each other’s difference, a place where bullying and violence is not accepted.

A learning space is a place that may be as concrete as a classroom or as abstract as the liminal space. Whatever it is, it needs to be a place where students can come together in peace to gain knowledge and grow. A future learning space is a space that is designed with the potential of changing children’s lives.  The following is what I perceive a future learning space in Filippiada, Greece might look like.

• The refugee community – Elders, adults, students

• Teachers – either local or international, volunteer or paid

• Government and Non-government agencies

•  Volunteers
